StrengthFinders Essay

Upon completion of the StrengthsFinder assessment, I confirmed that my strengths apply to me very well. My number one strength is communication. According to Strengthsfinder descriptions, I like to explain, describe, host, speak in public, and write. I would personally agree with all of these actions. In the future, I plan to become a real estate agent and that job in itself is communication. During my first internship with a real estate agent, I learned that you must be a good communicator to succeed. Whether that is planning showing with clients to the final signing process, every aspect revolves around the communication of the buyer, seller, and realtor. I have always been a more social person so communication being my number one strength is no surprise to me at all.

The next highest strength according to the Strengthsfinder assessment was "Woo." This trait also came as no surprise to me. At first, I was not quite sure what Woo meant but after reading the descriptions in the Strengthsfinder book, I understood that "Woo'' stands for winning others over. I exhibit this trait every day, I am always around people and meeting new people everywhere I go. At my current job, I work as a receptionist at a hair salon and I use the Woo trait every time I go in for work. Every shift I meet someone new and get a chance to talk to them sometimes while they wait for their appointment. It did not take me long to form true genuine relationships with my co-workers as they also have a great sense of Woo being their profession as a Hairdresser.

Third-ranked on my list of strengths was Discipline. For me, schedule and routine are everything. I always have every single event written in my planner of the calendar. I like knowing what to expect and sometimes surprises throw me off. I enjoy school mostly for the routine and structure it adds to my day, and for knowing what to expect. Always being organized allows me to plan time for everything I want to accomplish in a day. I use my discipline strength every day at school regarding assignments and projects. I always find a way to use my time wisely and get everything done in the most efficient manner possible.

The fourth-ranked strength for me was focus. As said in the strengthsfinder, those guided by focus, need a clear destination to follow. I am for sure a big planner in my life, I always like knowing what is coming and having things to look forward to. Focus played a big part in my internship when it came to planning meetings with my mentor. Both my mentor and I have very busy schedules and being able to plan what times we would be able to meet up for my mentorship was difficult. However, we created a plan for each week which helped me to know how to plan the rest of my week, not only school but my job and social life as well.

My fifth and final strength was consistency. Consistency to me is all about balance, having balance in my life is essential to who I am. Whether that's the school life balance or even just balance in my course work at school. When It comes time to schedule classes each year I try my best to make sure that I have a good amount of challenging classes to test my ability as well as less stressful classes so I am not too overwhelmed. Figuring out my priorities is essential to balance in my life.
